Yamato, along with her sister ship Musashi, were the largest battleships ever built in history. Weighing 72,800 tons and outfitted with nine 18.1-inch guns, the battleship Yamato was Japanís only hope of destroying the Allied fleet off the coast of Okinawa. Sieber will speak at the Library at 10 a.m. on January 30.
