Description
A special STEM event just for girls, ages 10 - 13, to showcase the awesome and sometimes unexpected ways that Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and epic careers intersect. Girls will have an opportunity to participate in innovative projects which will foster teamwork, creativity and problem solving skills. This event is a partnership of The Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Public Library and the Venice branch of AAUW(American Association of University Women). Registration is required at www.scgov.net/library. Limit of 25 girls. A signed parent permission slip must be signed prior to the event. These are available in the Youth Services Department.

This program is a tie-in to the 2015 “One Book One Community” selection Orphan Train, by Christina Baker Kline. Learn more about this chapter in our history and get a historical perspective of the orphan train movement that relocated an estimated 250,000 orphaned, abandoned, or homeless children from New York City into homes around the country from 1853 to 1929.

This class is for Spanish speakers, who want to improve their English skills in speaking, and understanding English, with emphasis on correct pronunciation. Students must be able to speak some basic English. Class meets once a week, Monday evenings, from 6:00 to 7:30. The class will begin on January 5, 2015 and run for 15 weeks until April 27, 2015. Senor Dan Duffy will be teaching from the book "English for the Spanish Speaker" book 4, by Kathleen Fisher; Fisher Hill Publishers 5th ed., (2009).

The girls spent a day at the beach. They had a long drive back they had a blast. They had their bathing suits filled with sand enjoyed riding the waves. They liked to do fun stuff together. my mom, my siblings and I like to do that type of stuff too.
