Discussion of Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson. The #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Devil in the White City and In the Garden of Beasts presents a 100th-anniversary chronicle of the sinking of the Lusitania. “A master of treating nonfiction like high drama and for seducing us with history and giving it human face,” Larson tells a story that many of us think we know but don’t. “And Erik Larson tells it thrillingly, switching between hunter and hunted while painting a larger portrait of America at the height of the Progressive Era. Full of glamour and suspense, Dead Wake brings to life a cast of evocative characters….” (Paraphrased from Chris Schluep & Amazon.com Review). New members always welcome. National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 p.m. on November 30. Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought fleetingly about writing a novel. There’s also online support and tools available at http://NaNoWriMo.org, such as email pep talks, a huge and supportive online community and blog, and a host of web-based writing tools like word counters.

This Orientation session for the NaNoWriMo process will be hosted by Local Municipal Liaison Dani Avella, who will give out some general information on NANOWRIMO and the support materials provided online for participants. She will talk about the novel writing process, some of the pitfalls to avoid, and the fact that after 30,000 words your brain can't hold the story in any more. Dani has gone through the NaNoWriMo process and the busy task of editing her own novels.

Learn about the steps in this novel writing process, meet each other and get revved up about the challenge ahead! Please “Come Write In” and join us!

For writers who want to write with other writers, we invite you all to spend some sessions writing together in November. Get some motivation, support, and feedback from other friendly writers. That's how author Sara Gruen got her novel "Water for Elephants" off the ground.

This is the time for people to discuss their aspirations for their own books.

This planning session for the NaNoWriMo process will be hosted by Local Municipal Liaison Dani Avella, who will give out some general information on NANOWRIMO and the support materials provided online for participants.

A burned out lawyer becomes a journalist in a breakaway Protugese backwater and then inherits the leadership of a non-existent terrorist movement. But, what starts out as an amauzing and harmless plot morphs into a deadly serious movement. Shrivers' satire is both lightly humorous and a pierclingly serious look at terrorism.
